New Blue Heelers Recruits

The Seven Network has announced that four new cast members will be joining its top Australian drama series Blue Heelers.  The four new recruits are Geoff Morrell, Rachel Gordon, Danny Raco and Samantha Tolj. They begin shooting in May and will appear on air in July.

Stage and screen veteran Geoff Morrell (Changi, Grass Roots, Murder Call, Marking Time, Breaking Away) will play Sergeant Mark Jacobs, a career policeman who joined the force 20 years ago. Jacobs is a good man with a great intellect and high ideals.

NIDA graduate Rachel Gordon will join the cast as Detective Senior Constable Amy Fox, who is one tough cop. She may be sweetly spoken, but she’s a relentless detective who will stop at nothing to nail an offender.

Danny Raco (Home & Away, Heartbreak High) will play Probationary Constable Joss Palermo, a young enthusiastic cowboy who is out there to catch the bad guys and relish every minute of the chase.

Newcomer Samantha Tolj has her big break with her role in Heelers as Probationary Constable Kelly O’Rourke. The fresh police academy graduate has energy to burn and loves the force.

Producer Gus Howard says, “We’re thrilled to have such a diverse group of actors join the cast. Jane Allsop leaves us in July, so there is one replacement, but the others mean an expansion of the cast by three. This is going to give us the chance to change the story structure considerably and the viewers will begin to see that from July.”

Blue Heelers is a Southern Star production and was created by Tony Morphett and Hal McElroy.
